Black's Island FAQs - answers to questions about what to bring, how to get here, what to do, and other useful tips will be here before we reopen Jan 2020.

It's been a long year of hard work but the final  phase of repairing the damage caused by Hurricane Michael has finally come.

We are excited to reopen in mid-January for the 2020 season. We have opened up a limited reservation system so that you can book your dates now. Please bear with us as we put the final touches on our new online system. Feel free to call or email if you have questions or special requests in these first few months.

How to get here:

DRIVE: Port St. Joe is drive-able from many parts of the southeast. If you think you may want to roadtrip it, consulting your favorite online mapping site is the best way to find out how long/how far the drive is.  Our  mainland dock address is 2049 FL-30A, Port St Joe, FL 32456

Panama City Airport, ECP
Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP)

FLY: Panama City Beach Intl Airport (ECP) is just under an hour and a half drive from our mainland marina. Several different airlines offer direct flights from cities throughout the US.

We will be offering designated ground transportation options in the near future, but there are several cab and shuttle options available. We'd be happy to help with those arrangements if you need assistance.

There is also a small airport in nearby Appalachicola (about a half hour away) our small aircraft pilot friends may or may not wish to look into. No commercial flights here.

BY BOAT: Our dock can accommodate boats up to 30ft. Enter St. Joseph Bay from the north out of the Gulf of Mexico. We are here:  29°43'24.2"N 85°19'53.5"W

On The Way...

Do stop in Port St. Joe to grab provisions for your stay. Your bungalow is a fully equipped private residence with all the comforts of home, so don't worry about anything but your personal consumables. Shop as you would for any vacation home rental: sunscreen, insect repellent, bottled water, juice, beer, wine, spirits, breakfast foodstuffs, snacks, a little something to grill, a little sauce to dip it in, etc. You know what you like. The Piggly Wiggly is your best bet for groceries, and there are several choices of liquor/package stores in town.

NOTE: The restaurant and bar facilities won't be in full operation (except for group events) until late spring. You will likely find continental breakfast laid out in the Big Game Club in the morning, and are equally likely to be invited to lively evening cookouts with your hosts and other guests in the outdoor Cabana, but we cannot guarantee  what we will be serving or when. So best to stock your kitchen with your own favorite food and drinks, and then feel free to  join in on whatever parties present themselves and look appealing.

Island Ferry

Black's Island is only accessible by boat (or helicopter), so water transport is provided at intervals throughout the daylight hours. Boat service can also be pre-arranged for particular times by request. It is a pleasant 10 minute ride between mainland and island. Naturally, it is possible that weather or unusual tide events may sometimes cause short delays, but these can generally be predicted and worked around.

Pets

As much as we love them, in order to protect the natural flora and fauna and ensure the comfort of all guests on the island, we do not allow pets on Black's Island.
